Urban Garden Beaumont Leys: A Community Space for All

E2’s Urban Garden Beaumont Leys has transformed a derelict site into a vibrant community space. This project is making a positive environmental impact while bringing people together. With exciting plans underway, including a sensory garden and the launch of our Urban Garden Café, the garden is becoming a hub for the local community.

What We’ve Achieved

Environmental Improvements

  • The site has been revitalised using eco-friendly methods, including soil purification through sustainable techniques.
  • The garden is home to diverse wildflowers and plants, supporting local biodiversity and creating a calming environment.
  • Recycled materials and sustainable designs feature throughout the space.

Community Involvement

  • We’ve partnered with local schools to provide outdoor learning opportunities for children.
  • Young people aged 4-16 now manage their own garden plots, learning about responsibility and the environment.
  • The garden offers a welcoming space for residents to meet, relax, and take part in community-led activities.
Meet Our Urban Garden Project Co-ordinator, Craig

Craig, 59, is at the heart of the Urban Garden Beaumont Leys. As Project Co-ordinator, he manages the garden’s maintenance, supervises volunteers, sources materials, and builds partnerships to support its growth.

Craig was previously the Garden Project Manager when the site was first established and has a unique connection to its history—he worked at the pub that once stood where the garden is now.

His motto, “Always find the positive in the negative,” reflects his proactive approach to challenges, such as levelling the site to create a thriving green space. Craig’s hands-on leadership and dedication have been instrumental in transforming the garden from a concrete plot into a flourishing community hub.

Through his work, Craig continues to embody E2’s vision for a greener, more connected Beaumont Leys.
