Katie Jenkins – Business Administration Apprentice
Katie was a student at Beaumont Leys School in Leicester and originally came to E2 through the "Strike Out" project. After leaving school she found it difficult to find work despite attending employment workshops with different agencies. During the summer, Katie came back to us and applied for an apprenticeship as our Business Administrator.
In the future, Katie hopes to work with children and young people who attend alternative provisions and believes this work will lead her down the right pathway. "I come from a big family and understand what it is like to attend alternative provisions, so I know exactly what young people are going through. It is easy to say you understand a young person but until you have gone through the process you really don't know what it is like".
Katie is supported by Profound and their apprenticeship programme and will be learning on the job. She said " I applied for this apprenticeship because it was such a great opportunity. I have been given a chance to gain experience, a qualification and get paid all at the same time. It is great being able to walk into a job where I already feel comfortable around everyone, I really hope I am able to gain full-time employment when my apprenticeship ends. I have loved working here so far, I am learning so much already".
