Anish Manji – from IT technician to IT tutor
Anish Manji is a 22 year old student studying Computer Science at De Montfort University and is currently with us at Cooke Training as an IT technician. His placement gives him actual workplace experience and forms a valuable part of his degree course.
As well as being one of our technicians, Anish has also become an IT tutor for the students on the Strike Out project. He has enjoyed the challenges of this new job, as it has reinforced what he would like to do as a career. He has built great relationships with the students and has helped them build their knowledge of IT.
He is currently working with Voluntary Action Leicestershire to complete an online Award in Education and Training. This will form a good basis to start building a career teaching IT or Computing when he has completed his degree.
Anish said “During my time at Cooke, I started as an IT technician and also went on to being an IT tutor to gain more experience in teaching. This was a new challenge for as I am teaching students from the ages of 12 – 16. I have developed my skills in teaching such as lesson planning, dealing with conflict and being more organised. Through my work as an IT technician, I have developed my skills such as computer hardware and software, repairing and upgrading computers and basic customer service.”
